I am the engineer who runs our 1608 line, and this is the general-purpose grade I recommend when a glass factory needs a strap that behaves the same on every machine, every shift. The 1608 is built 16 mm wide and 0.8 mm thick, at a 5120 N break strength with 1200 m per coil. Its defining trait is a low elongation rate: instead of stretching and losing grip, it holds a stable binding force, which is exactly what you want on delicate loads like glass crates that must not shift or be over-clamped. It is compatible with most standard automatic and semi-automatic strapping machines, and I extrude every coil from 100% virgin PET polyester on our own imported lines, verifying the tensile, weld and dimensional results on each batch before release.
This is a 1608 coil from my line. The uniform embossing on the 16 mm face is what gives it a reliable grip in tensioner wheels, so the strap feeds evenly and slips minimally on a running machine.
Key FeaturesOn a machine-fed line, the strap is only as good as its consistency. If the coil geometry wanders or the embossing is uneven, the tensioner slips, the seal misses, and your line stops. That is why I keep the 1608 to a single, repeatable recipe: the same virgin resin, the same 16 mm by 0.8 mm profile, the same embossing pattern on every coil. For a glass factory in particular, the low elongation rate is the safety feature — it holds a stable binding force that keeps fragile cargo from shifting, without the over-tensioning that cracks glass. It is the grade I would put on your machines if you told me you wanted one strap that just works.
Every 1608 coil is extruded from virgin PET polyester on our imported lines and drawn to align its molecular structure. Running one recipe at volume is what keeps the low elongation and 5120 N tensile strength identical batch after batch.

In a factory packing line, buyers often assume steel is the safest option. Here is the comparison I give them:
| Property | PET Strap (1608) | Steel Strap |
|---|---|---|
| Corrosion | Rust-free, no staining | Rusts and can mark goods |
| Weight | Lightweight, lower shipping cost | Heavy, higher freight and handling |
| Safety | Safer handling, no sharp edges | Sharp edges, risk of cuts |
| Recycling | Recyclable, eco-friendly | Heavier recycling burden |
| Surface Safe | Won't scratch finished goods | Can dent and scratch surfaces |
What I tell every buyer is simple: with the 1608 you keep a stable, reliable binding force and lose the rust, the sharp edges and the metal weight that comes with steel.
ApplicationsI built the 1608 for general factory packing and palletizing: glass factory crates, timber yards, brick plants, aluminum products, stone and warehouse pallet goods. It is the first grade I recommend for anyone trialling PET strapping, because it fits most machines and most loads, and it performs reliably across long-distance sea and land transport. For heavier loads it can be stepped up to our 1609, 1910 or 2510 profiles.
This is the 1608 doing the job I designed it for: holding a glass-factory pallet tight and square, with the low-elongation strap keeping a stable, even binding force across the load.
Quality ControlEvery batch passes the checks I insist on before it can ship, because a machine-use strap has to be a consistent one:
Everything above is backed by a real, auditable company. We are Xiangyang Suhai Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd., founded in February 2011 in Hubei, China, and recognised as a National High-Tech Enterprise (Certificate No. GR202442006492, issued 26 December 2024, valid for three years). We were also selected for Hubei Province's 7th batch of Specialised, Refined, Differentiated and Innovative SMEs — official confirmation of our R&D capability rather than a self-declared claim. Our manufacturing is certified under quality, environmental and occupational health & safety management systems, and our products are supported by SGS test reports. Full certificate copies and test reports are available on request for your compliance file.
Supply, Customization & PackagingOur complete PET strapping lines give a stable monthly output of 3000 tons, supporting large-volume bulk orders, mixed-spec bulk orders and long-term repeat cooperation, while small trial orders are also welcome against a 5 ton minimum. Customization includes specs such as 1609, 1910 and 2510 in 20 kg or 25 kg coils, custom green and black hand-use strapping, and printed logo. Each roll is wrapped in plastic protective film and stacked on standard wooden pallets for container or full-truck shipment, with a lead time of 5–10 working days. We also provide technical guidance for machine adjustment.
Finished coils are consolidated onto export pallets and unitised for stable container loading — the clearest proof of the band's holding power under real shipping conditions.
Each coil is wound on a rigid 250 mm core and precision-cut to a consistent 16 mm width, so the strap feeds cleanly through automatic, semi-automatic and manual strapping equipment.
