I am the engineer who specifies this grade, and the 1609 is the reinforced step up from our lightweight 1608. It keeps the same 16 mm width but thickens the body from 0.8 mm to a full 0.9 mm, lifting the rated break strength to 5,760 N with 9%–13% elongation. The engineering point is that added tensile alone is not enough on medium-heavy loads: the reinforced section raises pressure resistance and impact resistance so the strap does not fracture where a light strap would. That makes the 1609 the grade I recommend when a factory has outgrown a light strap but does not yet need a heavy 19–25 mm band.
The 1609 coil. Same familiar 16 mm width, but the thicker 0.9 mm body is what carries the higher load rating and the added impact resistance.
Generation upgrade What changed from the light modelBuyers already running our 1608 often ask what they gain by moving to the 1609. This is the comparison I give them:
| Parameter | 1608 (light) | 1609 (reinforced) |
|---|---|---|
| Width | 16 mm | 16 mm (unchanged) |
| Thickness | 0.8 mm | 0.9 mm (reinforced) |
| Break strength | 5,120 N | 5,760 N (+12.5%) |
| Pressure resistance | Standard | Higher |
| Impact resistance | Standard | Higher — resists rigid fracture |
| Tooling | 16 mm tools | Same 16 mm tools — no retooling |
The practical benefit: it is a drop-in upgrade. Existing 16 mm tools and machine settings stay unchanged, while load security rises.
On our production floor. The reinforced 0.9 mm section is run on the same lines as our standard grades, so thickness and tensile are held inside specification.
Performance Key characteristicsOn a medium-heavy load the failure mode is rarely pure tensile overload. It is usually a combination of pressure at the strap line, edge concentration on a hard corner, and impact shock in transit. Simply making a light strap wider does not fix this — the body still lacks the pressure and impact resistance. The 1609 increases the section thickness to 0.9 mm, which raises both the cross-sectional load capacity and the resistance to local deformation. Because the material retains elongation at 9%–13%, the strap still flexes and absorbs shock rather than cracking like a rigid band. That is the balance the grade is designed to strike.
Specification Technical data| Parameter | Value | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Model | 1609 | 16 mm reinforced high-load series |
| Width | 16 mm | Widened flat |
| Thickness | 0.9 mm | Reinforced |
| Material | Reinforced high-strength virgin PET | High molecular orientation |
| Break strength | 5,760 N | Upgraded medium-heavy grade |
| Elongation at break | 9%–13% | Absorbs shock without brittle failure |
| Weld strength | ≥85% of break strength | Secure under sustained tension |
| Length per coil | about 1,060 m | Fewer coil changes |
| Coil weight | about 20 kg | Single-operator handling |
| Core inner diameter | 250 mm | Standard mandrel fit |
Tensile testing station. I confirm the 5,760 N rating, the 9%–13% elongation window and the weld on every release — the seal is the usual system failure point.
Surface options Embossed or smooth| Surface | Best for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Embossed (anti-slip) | Stacked or slick medium-heavy loads | The texture adds grip so bundles do not shift |
| Smooth (anti-scratch) | Finished or scratch-sensitive goods | No texture to mark the product surface |
Finished-goods storage. We hold stock across the standard range so mixed-SKU and repeat orders ship without a full production lead time.
Applications Where the 1609 fitsSpecified for medium-heavy industrial goods: factory heavy finished products, bulk materials, medium-heavy pallets, building material bundles and metal products — the group that sits above light-load packing but below the very heaviest steel-coil class. It is compatible with all mainstream automatic and semi-automatic strapping equipment.
Warehouse, inspection area and export loading under one roof — in-house control from extrusion through to container loading.
Quality Release protocolThis product is manufactured by Xiangyang Suhai Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd., founded February 2011 in Hubei, China, and recognised as a National High-Tech Enterprise (Certificate No. GR202442006492, issued 26 December 2024, valid for three years). The company was selected for Hubei Province's 7th batch of Specialised, Refined, Differentiated and Innovative SMEs. Manufacturing is certified under quality, environmental and occupational health & safety management systems, and products carry SGS test reports — the file overseas buyers require for customs clearance, supply-chain audits and end-customer compliance review.
Company qualification file — business registration, enterprise and management-system certificates, open for audit before order placement.
Technical development record. R&D work targets strength consistency, production efficiency and product-life improvement.
Our manufacturing plant. The 1609 is extruded and drawn on our own lines, so section and tensile are controlled at source.
Production and quality team. Extrusion, drawing, inspection and packing are in-house — the reason specification and supply stay consistent order to order.

Each roll is wrapped in plastic protective film and stacked on standard wooden pallets, the pallet fully wrapped in stretch film against dust and moisture and secured with PET straps for stable loading — suitable for container and full-truck shipment. Pre-sales load matching and free sample testing are provided.
Export packaging and container loading. Dry, unitised and secured — ready to run on your line on arrival.
Container loading, verified before seal. Every order is checked for count, packaging integrity and moisture protection before shipment.
In-house process control. Running one recipe at volume is how we hold consistent quality, stable supply and factory pricing on the same roll.
Our engineering team. We match load, tooling and machine tension to the section before recommending a grade — so the strap you buy fits the equipment you already run.
