I am the engineer who specifies this grade, and the 1510 is our high-performance tension-retentive belt — the one I put forward when the load has to stay tight not for a shift, but for a long sea and land journey, or when a compressed bale pushes back against the strap. It is a 15 mm × 1.0 mm PET strapping belt rated at 6,000 N with 11%–14% elongation, supplied at about 1,020 m per coil. The design goal is tension retention: a strap that holds its tension over weeks of transit and recovers elastically as a bale relaxes, instead of creeping loose. For overweight industrial cargo and baled recovered material, that retention — not peak strength alone — is what keeps the load secure end to end.
The 1510 coil. A 1.0 mm gauge in a 15 mm width, rated at 6,000 N — built to hold tension through long-distance export transit.
Grade PositioningHere is where the 1510 sits against our standard heavy grades, so the choice is explicit:
| Tier | Model | Width / thickness | Break strength | Load segment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mid-light | 1409 | 14 mm / 0.9 mm | 5,040 N | General industrial, cartons, light pallets |
| Heavy retaining | 1510 (this product) | 15 mm / 1.0 mm | 6,000 N | Overweight cargo, bales, export transit |
| Standard heavy | 1910 | 19 mm / 1.0 mm | 7,600 N | Dense and heavy industrial cargo |
If your requirement is not just break strength but sustained tension across weeks of sea and land transport — or a bale that springs back — the 1510 is the targeted grade.
Performance — Tension RetentionWhy retention matters more than peak strength here: two failure modes dominate on heavy export cargo and bales. The first is creep — a strap that slowly elongates under sustained load and lets the pack loosen in the container, so the load shifts at sea. The second is spring-back — a compressed bale that pushes outward and needs a strap able to recover elastically and stay tight as the bale relaxes. Raw breaking strength does not address either. The 1510 is specified for low elongation with high elastic recovery, so it resists creep under sustained tension and stays secure from baler discharge to mill intake, in harsh and humid transport conditions.
Anti-Loosening, ExplainedAnti-loosening is really the whole story of this grade. Under a sustained load a strap slowly stretches — creep — and it is creep, not peak strength, that decides whether a pack is still tight three weeks into a sea leg or a settling bale run. This 1510 is specified for low elongation with high elastic recovery: the 1.0 mm section holds the load well below its limit so creep stays small, and the elastic recovery lets the band take up as a compressed bale relaxes instead of leaving it loose. That is the difference between a strap that merely holds at the moment of strapping and one that is still holding when the container is opened — the tension you set is the tension that arrives.

Why 1.0 mm here, and not the 0.9 mm of a standard medium strap: on this grade the extra wall is bought specifically for tension retention and bale work. At 1.0 mm on a 15 mm width the 1510 reaches 6,000 N and, more importantly for its job, keeps elongation inside a controlled 11%–14% band — enough to recover elastically as a bale settles, but not so much that it creeps loose under a steady pull. Go thinner and the band loses retention and starts to crack at the seal and the feed channel; go thicker and it stops recovering and turns brittle. We draw to a nominal 1.0 mm and verify it with a calibrated calliper at several points along each coil, because a strap that quietly arrives thin would quietly lose both its strength and its retention. In one line: 1.0 mm is the thickness that makes this a retaining strap rather than just a strong one.
CompatibilitySpecified for heavy industrial cargo securing and for compressed-bale bundling where the load pushes back: aluminium ingots, brick, glass, timber, stone, palletised export shipment, and recovered-material bales — waste paper and OCC, PET bottle bales, textile and fibre bales, scrap plastics and cotton lint. Common to all of them is a load that must stay tight over a long transit or while it relaxes in storage.
A Brick-Plant CaseHere is a case that shows why retention, not raw strength, is the fix. A brick and block yard I supply straps heavy brick packs onto pallets for container export, alongside their recovered-material baling line. On a standard medium strap the brick packs kept arriving with the top courses worked loose — the band had crept just enough over the long sea leg to let the pack settle. We moved them onto the 1510, same 15 mm tooling and no change to the pallet layout. Because the grade holds its tension and recovers rather than creeping away, the packs arrived as tight as they left the yard, and the very same band ran on their baler discharge without a change of product. It is the case for a tension-retentive grade in one line: when a pack has to stay tight for weeks, you buy retention, not just break strength.
Quality ControlI have listed the checks; here is how they run, so the retention numbers are proven rather than promised. Tensile: a sample from each batch is clamped in the rig and pulled to failure, reading peak load and elongation — it must break above 6,000 N and stay within the 11%–14% window, or the batch is held, because on this grade the elongation band matters as much as the break figure. Dimension: a calibrated calliper checks width and thickness at several points along the coil and the length is metered as the band winds, so a 15 mm / 1.0 mm / 1,020 m coil is verified rather than assumed. Edge and surface: every coil passes an even-finish, burr-free inspection. Weld: we heat-seal a sample joint and load it to failure to confirm the seal holds at full strength — on a heavy retaining strap the seal is usually the first thing to give. A batch ships only when all four pass, and the record stays with us for traceability.
