I am the engineer who runs the extrusion line, and the 1509 is the anti-break PET strap I put forward when a customer needs heavy pallet cargo to stay put. It is a 15 mm × 0.9 mm strapping tape rated at 5,400 N with 11%–14% elongation, supplied at about 1,140 m per coil. The word "anti-break" is not marketing on this grade: it is what the material selection and the stretching process are tuned to deliver, so the band takes the impact of a loaded pallet without snapping at the corner or the seal. It is specified for palletising and bundling — bricks, timber, cartons, metal, glass — anywhere a load moves a little in transit and the strap has to absorb that movement and stay tight. For buyers, the two numbers that decide whether your pallets arrive intact are break strength and tension retention, and I will walk you through both.
The 1509 coil. A 15 mm × 0.9 mm tape rated at 5,400 N — anti-break and tension-retentive for heavy pallet cargo.
Grade PositioningHere is where the 1509 sits in the family, so the choice is explicit:
| Tier | Model | Width / thickness | Break strength | Load segment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light | 1208 / 1308 | 12–13 mm / 0.8 mm | ~2,900–4,200 N | Cartons, light goods |
| Medium (this product) | 1509 | 15 mm / 0.9 mm | 5,400 N | Heavy pallet cargo, building materials |
| Heavy | 1910 | 19 mm / 1.0 mm | 7,600 N | Dense and steel-coil-grade cargo |
The 1509 is the workhorse medium grade: strong enough for heavy pallets, still flexible enough to bend cleanly around a tight corner and run on standard hand tools and semi-automatic equipment.
Key CharacteristicsWhy "anti-break" comes from the process, not the label: a PET strap that snaps in service almost always fails at a corner under impact or at a seal under sustained tension, not in the middle of a straight run. So we tune two things. First, raw-material selection — 100% virgin polyester with a consistent intrinsic viscosity, so the band has the toughness to absorb impact instead of cracking. Second, the stretching process — we draw the band to give it the orientation that carries load along its length while keeping enough elongation to move with an impact rather than shatter. The result is a 5,400 N band with 11%–14% elongation and high elastic recovery, which is exactly what a moving, settling pallet needs. That is the engineering behind the name, and it is why I check raw material and draw conditions as carefully as the final tensile figure.
Anti-Loosening, ExplainedLoosening is the failure that does not look dramatic but ruins the shipment. A pallet load settles and shifts as it rides, and a strap with high creep slowly relaxes — so the pallet is tight at the dock and loose at destination, and the whole point of strapping is lost. The 1509 fights that with high elastic recovery: it takes up the small movements of the load and comes back, holding about 95% of its tensioning force, so the pallet the customer receives is as tight as the one that left your yard. In one line for the buyer: on a pallet that has to survive a long transit, retained tension matters as much as break strength — a strap that stays tight beats a strap that is merely strong.
The extrusion and stretching line. Raw-material grade and draw conditions are controlled here — the source of the anti-break toughness.

Why 0.9 mm on this grade: the thickness is what turns a strap into an anti-break strap rather than a fragile one. At 0.9 mm on a 15 mm width the 1509 reaches 5,400 N while keeping the crack-toughness and impact resistance that a heavy pallet needs at the corner. Go thinner and the band turns fragile at the seal and shatters under impact; go thicker and it becomes stiff, fights the bend radius and costs more than the job requires. We draw to a nominal 0.9 mm and verify it with a calibrated calliper at several points along each coil, because a strap that quietly arrives thin would quietly lose both strength and impact resistance. In one line: 0.9 mm is the balanced medium point that keeps a 5,400 N band tough instead of brittle.
CompatibilityEngineering team. I match the strap specification to your actual load, tensioning method and transit route before quoting.
ApplicationsSpecified for palletising and bundling across building materials and industrial cargo — bricks and blocks, timber and panels, cartons, metal products and glass — as well as container loading and long-distance export logistics. It suits any application where a loaded pallet moves a little in transit and the strap has to absorb that movement, stay tight and protect the cargo with a non-rusting band.
A Pallet-Fixing CaseHere is a case from a building-materials distributor I supply. Mixed pallets of bricks and bagged product are strapped, trucked to the port and container-loaded for export. On a basic medium strap they kept seeing two problems: bands snapping at the pallet corners under impact, and loads arriving shifted loose after a long sea leg. We moved them onto the 1509, keeping the same tools and strap count. The anti-break toughness stopped the corner failures, and the tension retention held the loads tight so they arrived as strapped, without the wrap carrying the weight. It is the case for this grade in a sentence: for a moving, settling pallet, you want a strap that is tough at the corner and stays tight over distance, not just one with a high break number.
Warehouse and finished-goods area. Every roll is inspected and weighed before it is released for shipment.
Quality ControlI have listed the checks; here is how they actually run, so the numbers are proven rather than printed. Tensile: a sample from each batch is clamped in the rig and pulled to failure, reading peak load and elongation — it must break above 5,400 N and stay within the 11%–14% window, or the batch is held, because on an anti-break grade the elongation band is what stops the brittle failures. Dimension: a calibrated calliper checks width and thickness at several points along the coil and the length is metered as the band winds, so a 15 mm / 0.9 mm / 1,140 m coil is verified rather than assumed. Edge and surface: every coil passes an even-finish, burr-free inspection. Weld: we heat-seal a sample joint and load it to failure to confirm the seal holds at full strength — on a load-bearing strap the seal is usually the first thing to give. A batch ships only when all four pass, and the record stays with us for traceability.
